After a hiatus of three years, I was invited to return to the Disney Parks Blog as a contributing artist.  I was once again given an opportunity to express my love of the Disney Parks and continue to showcase my newly found artistic talents.

For my return, I was given the assignment to create a digital wallpaper which would pay homage to what had originally opened as the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park at the Walt Disney World Resort.

This park, which originally opened as an East Coast counterpart to Disney's West Coast studios, never fully realized its purpose and was eventually updated to become a full theme park, ditching the fully-functioning movie studios part of the operation in the early 2000s.
The wallpaper I created used all of the skills and Photoshop trickery I had learned during my hiatus.  Contrasting light and shadow to produce depth.  The use of complex gradients to create the illusion of dimension.  Use of stroke and glow and shadow to create a dramatically self-lit work of art.

I hid several nods to original or departed attractions in this work.  The New York City backdrop and MuppetVision balloon, for example, had only recently been removed to improve the sight lines for the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge area of the park.  The Earful Tower, which had been removed years prior, was once again standing proud over the "Hollywood" skyline.

To this day, I am exceptionally proud of this piece.
